This game definitely felt like the one that got away. The Zimbabwe men’s soccer team yesterday locked horns with the indomitable lions in Yaounde Cameroon. We should have tamed the lions as the game wore on.
Zimbabwe came in as the ultimate underdog but , this wasn’t the case in this instance as our players bossed the match in most areas of the pitch. This should obviously come as a warning to the other teams at the AFCON tournament which is set to kick off on Saturday.
The game ended 1-1 as first half goals from Tendai Ndoro the leading ABSA premier league goal scorer and Cameroon’s skipper Benjamin Moukandjo who equalized via the spot kick. This result also follows a dull 0-0 draw played on boxing day against the Ivory Coast.
The China based Nyasha Mushekwi missed a glorious chance in the final minutes of the game as he squandered a chance after receiving a pass from the evergreen Knowledge Musona. This should ring a bell on the minds of those teams who might underrate us as we have shown character and strength in the past two friendly games.
Pasuwa’s men will head to Gabon with their heads held high as they will tackle favorites in what is adjudged to be the group of death which features Senegal, Algeria and Tunisia.
